The Jacket and Ski-B-Q

This last Saturday I found the perfect ski jacket to match my helment, goggles and ski pants so I had to debut my new outfit at our Sunday night Ski-b-q. We had a BBQ in the upper Bogus parking lot while we waited for Jami and Laura to do their lesson. Then we all went night skiing and I got to wear my flashy ski outfit! First time I have matched ever.....but I realized my gloves are black so I might need to get new gloves now!

Our Ski-b-q was sorta like a tailgate. Mary and Adam were acutally having Valentine's dinner at the Pioneer Lodge but they joined us for a beer and a couple runs.

McCall Weekend

Another great weekend skiing at Brundage. Mom brought the sunshine! One of the best parts was just being able to sit outside and enjoy lunch and a beer while soaking up the sun. Hard to believe that it has been sunny everytime I have been skiing this year. Six for six is pretty good but now I'm pretty spoiled!

Mom and Dad Go To Mesquite

Dad and I had a great time on our $99 weekend getaway at Sun City Mesquite. The hotel wasn't the greatest but you can't beat the price! Mesquite consisted of some casinos and a lot of golf courses. I guess you golf all day and gamble at night. I have never seen so many golfers wandering around!
We started out our visit by checking out the model homes.
Mesquite was a very interesting juxtaposition of desert mesas and snow capped mountains. Here you can see the mountain view from some of the model homes and then you turn around and see barren mesa. Interesting!
Mesquite only gets about four inches of rain each year so not much grows there!
We really enjoyed our round of golf (included!). The golf course had beautiful mountain views and vistas that made you think you might be golfing on the moon. It also had some dramatic drop offs.

These last two shots are looking back at the community center. I loved the big red rock with the mountains behind it. The actual golf clubhouse hasn't been built yet.

We enjoyed our visit - who knows it could be a second home someday!

Humanitarian Bowl and NYE 10

Of course I get to watch the Vandals take on Bowling Green State at the Humanitarian Bowl from first class sky box seats and forget my camera!! But thanks to my friends I was able to steal a few pictures. The first picture to the left is actually from the Vandal exhibition basketball game at Quest Arena the night before the H Bowl. We got to sit first class at that game,too, with a court side corporate box. That is the football team being brought onto the court at half time.


Here are fans starting to rush the field after the thrilling finish. I couldn't believe we pulled that off!

After the win no one wanted to leave the parking lot. We were too excited! Below is some of us after game tailgating.

New Year's was pretty low key this year since it was the day after the H Bowl. We stayed with the McDonald's in McCall. The boys wanted to smoke a brisket on New Year's day. Josh had bought 4 lbs, but somewhere Jes got confused and thought he was supposed to buy 8lbs of brisket, but really he was supposed to by an 8lb bag of briquettes. So we ended up with a lot of meat and it took 7 hours to cook, but it was yummy. We didn't eat till 10:30 that night!

The McDonald's got a fancy camera for Christmas so teacher Josh was showing them some cool tricks. Jes and Tony are supposed to be Angel's I think?

We were pooped after the H Bowl and NYE, but Kenz and I aren't really passed out. I guess we thought it would be funny to trick the boys into thinking we were, not sure why.....??

Christmas in McCall II

Our second annual Christmas in McCall was as good as the first - maybe better! Four great days of skiing under sunny skies, temps in the 20's and no wind!Can't beat that! The cabin we rented worked out well once we all figured out the sleep number beds.

All of our skiing was at Brundage this year since Tamarack is closed. On Christmas Eve Lindy, Jerry and I got up early to hit the slopes. Lindy was sporting her new helmet. She was nice and waited for the old folks all day. We followed skiing with a great chili dinner back in the cabin.

The kids all received fun new lounge wear for Christmas. Perfect for lounging by the fire back at the cabin and expandable for enjoying all the great appetizers and desserts!


The kids made fun of Jerry and me for being so excited about being in better shape this year. We worked hard! We were glad not to be crawling down the slope at the end of the day.

Jerry is ready to spend part of the winter hitting he slopes. It is a great break from the desert. We couldn't get enough of the views!
Josh and Kelsey arrived on Christmas morning. Josh is still missing Tamarack. I think he mostly misses the Seven Devils Pub and lunching with Andre, Steffi, and the kids!

Arizona Christmas

Let's face it, you just don't get a lot of traditional Christmas atmosphere in the desert. Probably can't even find someone that can tell the difference between a pine tree and a fir tree let alone afford to buy a real one down here! Expensive! So here is a little Arizona Christmas cheer.

Maui

We took so many pictures of our trip to Maui it took me forever to organize them! We had so much fun relaxing and enjoying the weather. We stayed at the Sheraton Maui Kanapali Beach Resort and loved it! The waterfall is from our trip to Hana. On the way there we stopped a lot to see the sights but on the way back I was really car sick. Very tedious driving! The pool picture is the kids side of the pool at our hotel and below is Josh's favortie meal, fish tacos and a "Big Wave" beer at the Sundowner pool bar.

We tried snorkeling for the first time on this trip and loved it! At our hotel we could snorkel just steps off the beach at Sheraton's Black Rock. We could see turtles and lots of fish. They also do a cliff diving ceremony from there every night at sundown and they light up all the torches. You can see all the snorkelers and yes, Josh did have to jump off the cliff a couple times.

This is the end of our first full beach day and Josh is enjoying a beer from our balcony. This was his uniform for most of the trip, flip flops and swim shorts. The above picture is Josh having his coffee in the morning.

Just coming in from a marathon snorkel day. We saw tons of tropical fish and and probably five or six sea turtles, no sharks though!

Inside the catamaran, they did have open bar but you had to be done snorkeling first. Snorkeling is very peaceful...........
